Itaquerão

Itaquerao Arena Corinthians, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, is the future stadium of Sport Club Corinthians Paulista. When completed, it will be the fifth largest stadium in the upper layer of the Brazilian League and the eleventh largest in Brazil, with a capacity of 48,234.
The stadium will host six of the FIFA World Cup 2014 matches, including the opening game. Due to the request of at least 65,000 seats for the opening match of the World Cup, temporary seats will be added to the stadium for the tournament.
Corinthians plans to build a new stadium capacity 201.304, as their own Alfredo Shurig Stadium held fewer than 14,000 people and the city of Pacaembu Stadium had to be shared with other teams. Plans to build a new stadium required a large area, and then President Vicente Matheus asked for a grant to the mayor of Sao Paulo in Itaquera region, east of the city center.
The request was accepted by Mayor Olavo Setubal on November 10, 1978 and an award for 90 years was granted on December 26, 1978 for a 197,095.14 square meters ( 2,121,514.4 m² ) property. The area was owned at the time by COHAB , an agency for public housing controlled by the government of São Paulo.
The original plan had been to build the stadium in three to five years. The grant has been renewed in 1988 for 90 years , with the proviso that any construction made in the area would revert to the city at no cost.
Funding was obtained and no alternatives were considered , such as obtaining a grant for the Pacaembu Stadium and demolishing room making Alfredo Schurig Stadium to another, among other proposals.
Corinthians announced the construction of the 48,234 capacity stadium on August 31, 2010 , at an estimated cost of U.S. $ 335 million and gross revenues estimated £ 100 million per year. The original plans allow an expansion to reach 70 thousand seats .

The chief architect Aníbal Coutinho is assisted by Antonio Paulo Cordeiro de Coutinho , Diegues , Lamb ( DDG ) , in collaboration with Werner Sobek , who provided structural engineering services. The stadium was planned to be completed by March 2013 .
